It’s been longer than I’d like since my last update. I’ve made some progress on getting the helmet together but the cold weather makes it hard to spend much time in the basement workshop. I’ve also been dealing with a sinus cold so wearing proper safety gear isn’t comfortable.
So I’m going to switch gears a bit and tackle something I can work on upstairs. I’ve long been curious about adding lights, movement, etc… to projects. I’ve read a lot about Ardunio and tinkered a bit in the past. For those who are not familiar Arduino is an open-source hardware and software company that designs and manufactures single-board microcontrollers building digital devices and interactive objects that can sense and control both physically and digitally. Sounds like a lot huh? Broken down it just means simple computers that can be programmed for simple tasks.
I picked up a Robot Smart Car Kit a couple of months ago and am going to crack it open today! It should walk me through the basics of making wheels move and turn as well as object detection and some other fun stuff!
My name is Chris Duffield. I live in New Brunswick Canada where I am the co-owner of a Comic and Board Game store. Along with the inspiration of my loving wife Jessica and aid of my assistant Harry (he’s a cat) I’m looking to have a space to share my hobbies and chronicle the process of creation.
