Snowshoeing

My friend Bill from St. Louis was here for a visit and wanted to try out snowshoeing. I’ve never tried it either so we (the two of us as well as Jess and Hilary) went to Daytripping in Rockwood Park to rent some gear on Sunday. We had a beautiful day for it and some fresh powder laid down the night before. Snowshoes are no longer the giant tennis rackets they once were and I was surprised how easy it was to walk in them. It was a really fun afternoon doing something new and hanging with friends.

I took my camera along hoping to get some decent winter landscape shots. Taking the camera along is something I plan to do more often this year.

Tracks

Taken during an afternoon of snowshoeing there were various tracks across frozen Lily Lake. We were told earlier in the day that the lake was not totally frozen so the tracks were made with some risk. We chose to stick to the trail and go around the lake.
